Consider this an introduction to the brain! Students will learn about the main parts of the brain and their functions. Depth of information and activities vary by grade levels, available for grades 1-8.

Anatomy
Basics

After a review of the basic brain parts, students are taught about the causes and dangers of concussions and ways to protect their brains. They are able to try concussion related experiments such as simulation goggles. Great for grades 3-8.

Brain Health

This lesson explores how our senses are processed by our brains and allow us to understand the world around us. Students rotate through experiments for each sense. Best suited for grades 1-6.

Senses

In this lesson students will build their own neurons in order to learn about the basic parts and their functions. Additional activities help them understand how they communicate with each other and form pathways. Can be suited for grades 1-8.
Making
A
Neuron

Students gain an understanding of mirror neurons and empathy through a group experiment, followed by a discussion on the importance of mindfulness and an age appropriate mindful activity. Available for grades 3-8
Mindfulness
and
Empathy

Students are able to explore mental health from a new perspective by focusing on critical neural pathways and neurotransmitters involved in mental health. We also look at the many factors that can affect mental illness such as stress, life habits, and social media. Can be modified for grades 5-12.
